Modern Response to an Architecturally Challenging Site: Monk’s Shadow Residence. A Monk’s Shadow residence diverse contemporary designed by Kendle Design Collaborative and is located in Paradise Valley, Arizona. According to the architect, the design of this project is an answer to the challenge of an existing site: Many narrow to 60 ‘vertical elevation combined with limited Hillside Zoning Regulations make designing a conventional house is not possible. Responding to the house is divided by use: a parent zone included the main rooms, main family and entertainment functions, teen zone including a bedroom, game room, swimming pool access and one of two garages and living zones including bed / bathroom and a large room that serves small as a home office owner. Levels are connected via an interior staircase and each has a view of distant mountains and ordered Sun Valley. Its common name Monk’s Shadow-is borrowed from a natural formation located nearby known as the Praying Monk.
